This was recieved to today from Ducati Corse Press Information, a chance to blow their own trumpet.

WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP 2000

With today\'s victory, the Bologna manufacturer wins its ninth World Superbike Constructors\' title, confirming that the Ducati 996 is still the bike to beat in the production-based championship.

Seven factory and private riders who raced in this year\'s World Superbike Championship contributed to the ninth victory for the Italian company:Carl Fogarty (South Africa and Australia), Haruchika Aoki (South Africa and Australia), Andreas Meklau (Japan), Juan Borja (Japan and Holland), Neil Hodgson (Donington and Brands Hatch), Troy Bayliss (Monza, Hockenheim, San Marino, Brands Hatch and Oschersleben), Ben Bostrom (Spain and USA), John Reynolds (Brands Hatch).

Ducati\'s victory was built on sheer determination in what was possibly the most difficult year ever for the Italian manufacturer. At the start of the season, it had to make immediate amends for the gap left by four-times WSBK champion Carl Fogarty, whose presence was sorely missed after his crash in Australia.

The Constructors\' title was won by motivating all the riders and teams on Ducati bikes and the 996 also played its part by adapting itself to every different condition, confirming that it is once again the bike to beat in World Superbikes.

The interventions made by Ducati Corse engineers throughout the year have enabled the 996 to remain at the top in WSBK and confirm on the track the production success of the scarlet red bikes throughout the world.

The vital contribution made by private riders in the conquest of the Constructors\' title is a source of pride for Ducati. The 996 confirmed that it is the only bike capable of winning on a world level in \'customer\' form: a further demonstration of the validity of the road-going version.

Ducati would like to thank all riders, teams and sponsors who have contributed to this success.
