U.S TEAM FOR MULTINATIONAL SX SENSATION!

Posted: Mon 25 Sep 2000

The Mystery Creek Events Centre today confirmed a two weekend , Multinational Indoor Supercross challenge in November. A team of riders from the US have confirmed their attendance at the event along with riders from Australia and a possible South African team to compete against our own Supercross heroes.

The event, scheduled for Nov 24-25 and December 1-2,will give local riders the chance to throw some dirt at some of the best overseas riders, some competing for the first time in New Zealand.

Organisers are keeping the individual riders names secret as some contract negotiations are still underway and are expected to announce the team once all have confirmed. Marketing Manager Vince Stockdale anticipates the teams will give supercross fans more than they expect.

\"These guys are hot, the Americans are all in the top fifty of the AMA, the Aussies will be back for revenge after last years event and if we can get the South Africans we\'ll have more dirt action than has ever been seen here before. The track will be tight and fast - it\'ll be handlebar to handlebar all the way and the Expression Session will be back for those with an extreme attitude\" says Vince.

American based kiwi Shayne King has been assisting the Mystery Creek Events Centre organisers in securing the American riders and is picked to lead the Kiwi contingent. Highlight of the event will again be the hotly contested all-in \"King of the Creek\" title and prize money up for grabs.

With the US riders arriving first the kiwis will get a chance to hustle the Americans before the Australians arrive for the finale.

The Hamilton City supported indoor event is fast becoming a must-attend for riders and fans, and tickets are expected to be snapped up fast when they go on sale in November.

The 2000 cubic metres of clay required for track building has been excavated under the watchful eye of Operations Manager Kevin Lyndsay.

\"After the torrential rain played havoc with the clay last year, we were determined to make sure the clay was ready and in the best condition for the track builders. We\'ve just spent two days with Porter Hire\'s 20 tonne excavator and front end loaders stockpiling the clay under cover.\"

Mystery Creek Events will also be posting information updates, rider profiles, photos and results on a dedicated website - www.supercross.co.nz
