Joey Dunlop tribute on Isle of Man

A Parade on the Isle of Man to celebrate Joey Dunlop\'s life attracted thousands of motorcyclists.

The parade around the Isle of Man was attended by 5000 riders, including some members of Joey\'s family. His son Gary rode pillion behind Ron Haslam a former GP rider. His wife and other children traveled in four cars. The parade spread over 17 miles of the 37-mile course. Up to 180 bikes per minute were crossing the start line every minute as the main body of the parade started the circuit.

Joey Dunlop OBE MBE was winner of 26TTs between 1977 and 2000. His latest wins being this year when he won the Formula One, the lightweight and the Ultra Lightweight at the age of 48. Dunlop died as a result of a crash on a Honda RS125 in Estonia on July 2nd. 50.000 people attended his funeral at Ballymoney, Northern Ireland.

Before the start of the parade Joey\'s wife Linda, unveiled a plaque in his memory. It is placed next to the plaque for Mike Hailwood close to the TT Grandstand.
