Aaron Slight is back in action this weekend at Assen in the Netherlands.

The Castrol Honda star, still fighting his way back from brain surgery, is looking for a kick in the final three rounds of the world superbike championship.

\"We\'ve had a break in the campaign and I\'ve been able to rest and relax, which is quite a novelty,\" said the expat Kiwi.

\"Now it\'s back to work, and I\'m looking forward to Assen. I\'ve never won a race there but I\'ve always gone well and been close a few times.\"

Last year, in his final ride on the old V4 RC45 750cc Honda, The Masterton-born professional racer set the fastest practice time at the 6.049km circuit near Groningen.

His arch rival Carl Fogarty went on to win both race legs but the brash Britisher is missing this year after a heavy crash from his Ducati.

As well as continuing to improve his own standing on the new V-twin SP1, Slight will be looking to do his bit for Castrol Honda teammate Colin Edwards, the American who holds a slender lead in the title chase.

The two races are held overnight Sunday NZ time.
