Rees Happy as First Privateer

Posted: Sun 27 Aug 2000

Kawerau’s Tony Rees finished Sixth overall and first Privateer in the Superbike class at Round Four of the Australian Road Racing Championships raced at Eastern Creek Raceway Sydney, today.

Rees rode the Yamaha R1; he has been campaigning for Bikebiz Yamaha in the recent Australian Formula Extreme Series. The only difference being, that at this meeting they were using Dunlop Tyres, rather than Michelins.

Rees was far more comfortable on the Dunlops, than he has been at recent meetings in Australia.

“ I was able to throw the bike around with more confidence, it was like last season and I am now convinced, we could have done better in Formula Extreme on Dunlops. Any way I am happy with First Privateer and 2001 is a new season.” says Rees.
