Kawerau’s Tony Rees had a day he would rather forget, at the Final round of the Australian Formula Xtreme Series, today at Oran Park, 45-km southwest of Sydney.

The weather was a big factor in Rees’ day from hell, with rain coming and going, tyre choice was critical.

In race one, Rees started on wet tyres, unfortunately the track dry and by race end, his tyres were totally destroyed.

“It was like riding on Marbles, Sixth was a great finish” says Rees.

In race two, they opted for their qualifying tyres from Saturday and with a dry track came home forth.

Race three saw Rees start on a brand new set of slicks, only to have it rain, even in the slippery condition Rees managed a fourth. Championship leader Kevin Curtain, also on slicks could only manage to come home eighth.

Race four saw it raining again and on full rain tyres, Rees finished third.
“ We finally got the tyres right, giving us a podium finish” said Rees
