Bayliss soon took the lead as Edwards suffered some problem that saw him go almost in reverse from 1st to 7th in a very short time.

Edwards said in the press release ,\"I must have burnt the clutch out on the start or something - I couldn\'t downshift,\" he said. \"I felt it first on the first lap, I went to go down three gears into a left and it didn¹t go, I ran wide and held on as best as I could.\" As for the crash, Edwards said, \"My crash in the first start was one of those things. Hodgson caught and passed Walker and set out after Bayliss grabbing the lead with two laps to go , only to have Bayliss take it back on the last lap. Walker took the third place.

Aaron Slight took 7th place. \"I had a gearbox problem,\" Slight said in a Castrol Honda press release. \"It just kept falling out of gear, I haven\'t a clue why it started doing that. It was holding me up a lot, I\'m sure I could have finished a lot higher.\"
