KIWI RIDER COACHING HITS THE TARMAC

Posted: Wed 02 Aug 2000

The focus for Kiwi Rider Coaching so far has been Off road training, but with the upcoming Endurance race at Manfeild and the Battle of the Street and National Road Race series just around the corner, it is time for the focus to shift to road race training.

September 22,23 and 24 will see a triple header at Manfeild so to speak. The first event is the Kiwi Rider Road Race training starting Friday evening and including Saturday as well. The second event is the Kiwi Rider Bike Mart track day also at Manfeild (sharing the two circuits with the Race training). And of course Sunday sees the final of the Suzuki Central Road Race Series where the series Champions will be decided.

A South Island Road Race training date is being set at the moment and is likely to be 11 or 18 November or 2 December at Ruapuna (Christchurch) or Levels (Timaru).

The Road Race training is suitable for Road racers of all abilities and will include the following modules; Track Orientation, Cornering, Braking, Passing, Starts as well as the following topics: Organisation, Bike preparation, Wet riding, Race Psyche, Race Rules and Sponsorship.

Top quality racers such as Tony Rees, Brian Bernard, Dean Fulton and John Hepburn will front the events. All the riders are qualified Coaches and extremely successful and experienced riders both nationally and internationally. And what’s more these riders are happy to pass on all their hard earned race secrets to you – the student.

One special features of the events will be the one on one personal training session given to all Students by one of the Trainers – there is no better way to learn the “trick” lines and get sucked along up to a higher speed.

Another very effective learning method is the video analysis session where all students are videoed around a corner, before a classroom viewing session at which the rider’s lines, body position and body movement are examined in detail.

The course costs will be around $200 and will be limited entries to ensure small group attention. An entry form is available in the Kiwi Rider Bike Mart magazine.

These two events will be the only road race training events held in NZ in 2000, so do not miss out on the chance to increase your riding skills, knowledge, speed, control and safety.
