Coppins update

Comments from flying Kiwi motocrosser Josh Coppins after his stunning second outright today, climbing to third in the glamour world 250 championship:

\"It would have been nice to win my first GP here but also it was good to take some valuable points and move up from 4th to 3rd in the championship.\"

\"It\'s my goal to be as consistent as possible and take good points each and every race, that was the same here today.\"

Championship leader, Josh\'s teammate Mickael Pichon led from almost start to finish in race one, headed only for a short time by Coppins. \"I took the holeshot and I was ahead of Pichon.\"

\"I let him by on the opening lap . he was riding very well and I just wanted to stay with him, I knew we could move ahead together we both had very good speed around here.\"

\"Within a short time we opened up a lead. Within a few laps, I had 15 seconds on Gordon Crockard and then I ran into a slower back marker and fell.\"

\"Crockard caught me and my lead was down to 7 seconds but I knew I could hold on to second.\"

\"I made another great start in race two, I got a little wheel spin off the start as they had put loose dirt on top of hard ground but I still made the front and grabbed the holeshot.\"

\"I was happy out in front . I had a lead over Crockard again but then I lost some concentration and ran off the track.\"

\"A few things were affecting me, I was making little mistakes and then I saw that Pichon had cartwheeled down the side of the track.\"

\"I managed to put that to the back of my mind and tied not to let it affect me too much, then I simply jumped and ran off the track, it\'s one of those things.\"

\"I knew I had to look for new lines, the track was becoming very bumpy, not normal sand bumps but small sharp bumps, it made a very rough ride.\"

\"I challenged Crockard a couple of times but I couldn\'t find a place to pass, the track is very short between the corners so it\'s difficult to pass here, you\'re always turning and everyone is holding that inside line.\"

\"I was trying to push him into a mistake but I couldn\'t stay with him long enough unfortunately, so he didn\'t make one and pulled away to take the win.\"

\"I did everything I could to put in my two fastest laps when I caught right up with him so I didn\'t really have much time left after that.\"

\"I tried to force the mistake but in the end I made the mistake, I think Crockard is a little more comfortable leading a race he has already won a race and overall.\"

\"The club did a great job here, the track was like a lake yesterday, with our qualification session being held today instead it made things a little hectic with the races brought earlier for the extended race programme but the track was in great condition considering the damage that was done by the weather yesterday.\"

It was day for the young riders to take all the glory.

\"We have all battled with each other last year and are all friends, Crockard, Cooper and I, it\'s nice to join them on the podium.\"

\"I scored 34 points, one more and I would have tied with Crockard and maybe taken the win overall, but my time will come.\"

\"I stayed with my plan to be there at the end of the race. I feel happy on the bike, it\'s working very well and we have Japanese technicians over here working out of the workshop so I am sure they will be happy with my performance here.\"

Team Manager Sylvain Geboers, himslef a former motocross great haled Coppins\' climb to 2nd position on the podium.

\"We are all very happy for Josh, he is getting there and I am sure it won\'t be long before we see him on top of the podium and winning races regularly.\"

The next round of the championship will be staged at Namur, Belgium, next weekend following the cancellation of the Polish round scheduled to take place at Gdansk.
