A revamp for the Monster.

Ducati\'s Monster range, the best selling Ducati\'s are going to get an upgrade. Ducati will swop the twin 4 valve, air cooled engine which puts out 71bhp for the 916 twin 8 valve water cooled engine which puts out 101bhp.

There will be and updated frame as well, based on the ST4 sports tourer, it will have adjustable steering geometry. There will be upgraded suspension with USD fully adjustable Showa forks, with a Sachs shock on the rear.

The fuel injected motor will have a milder exhaust cam than the ST4 which is also based on the 916. That will drop the power to 101bhp from the 105bhp that the ST4 puts out. The Monster should have better throttle response and a better mid range power.

The bigger engine and the adding of a radiator will lift the weight to 193kg, not much more than the old Monster.

The new Monster also has been fitted with Marchesini 5 spoke alloy wheels to cut the weight, which will partially counter the increase of the weight of the bigger engine. As unsprung weight it will help the steering thus making the new Monster corner better.
