Honda\'s Advanced Safety Vehicle project people are trialing an airbag on Gold Wings . The airbag has been especially developed from those used on Honda\'s cars. The bag is bigger than those used in cars,. It is high enough to make it nearly impossible for the rider to be thrown over the bars in a \"head on\". And wide enough to stop the rider coming off to either side if the bike gets hit with a glancing front impact. Operated by sensors in the fork legs they work like the car equivalent, the sensors judge if the impact is enough to deploy the bags. The sensors are only at the front so the bags do not deploy if hit from any other direction.

Results are said to be promising in crash tests (the dummies must like them), Honda is keen to develop them further for possible future production bikes.

Honda is also working on another system fitted for trials to the Foresight 250 scooter. This is a . a computer-controlled communication system, which \"talks\" to vehicles surrounding it and tells the rider about possible risks like cars coming too close. The Foresight is also fitted with a self sealing gel in the tyres. If falls in pressure show you have a slow puncture, a warning lights up on the dash
