World Superbike Championship/World Supersport Championship

Valencia (Spain), 23/24/25 June 2000

Spanish Round Valencia, Thursday 22 June

Superbike and Supersport head for the Valencia \'amphitheatre\' for the first time.

The new 4.005km circuit, which has nine left-hand curves and five right-hand ones, is surrounded by one massive spectator area, giving the sensation of watching the circuit inside a stadium. 49,000 square meters of paddock space can be found behind the pit straight.

In the heart of the Comunitat Valenciana, the Ricardo Tormo circuit is the venue for round 8 of the World Superbike Championship and round 7 of the World Supersport Championship.

On his \'home\' circuit, Spanish rider Juan Borja will be aiming for his first victory in Superbike for the Ducati Infostrada team. Troy Bayliss, after two superb second places in last Sunday\'s round at Misano, will be attempting to repeat his race 1 victory at Hockenheim. The Australian is the rider who has scored the most points (104) in the last three rounds of the championship.

These brilliant performances are helping Ducati in its quest to win this year\'s manufacturers\' championship, in which just four points separate Ducati from championship leader Honda.

On the Supersport front, all eyes will be on Ducati Infostrada\'s Spanish rider Ruben Xaus, who will be aiming for a good result after last Sunday\'s retirement and who will be more motivated than ever in front of his home crowd. Xaus\'s chief rivals will be the two German Yamaha riders, Teuchert and Kellner, who were quick in testing at Valencia in March, as well as his team-mate Paolo Casoli, third overall in the table 12 points behind the leader and hungry for victory.
