Joey Dunlop's slight advantage on the Isle of Man.

Joey Dunlop the \"Old man of the Island\" needed a SLIGHT advantage to get his 24th Island TT win.

Being rated an underdog on the factory Honda against Yamaha\'s R1\'s is not a great way to go into a race.

To get more power Honda Britain\'s race top honcho talked the factory into giving him an Aaron Slight WSB spec SP1 engine for the Joey Dunlop bike. The handling problems were sorted with a new /old set of tyres (1999 spec Dunlop\'s) sorted that. Joey Dunlop, now 48 years of age, knows he is getting a bit long in the tooth to foot it with the young guys.

It took all his considerable knowledge of the island (he has raced there since the 1970 \'s) and his brilliant riding ability and a SLIGHT advantage to cruise home at speeds of up to 190mph.

After the win, he phoned Slight\'s mechanics Simon Greer and Mark Lloyd, to give them the news and pass on his thanks

.

The race was watched by Honda president Mr Kawashima,
