IoM Gossip

Evidently, Honda sent over updated motors for the Fireblades after the disappointment at the North West, but they were no better. It was rumoured that Joey didn\'t want to ride them and Moodie was resigned to the fact that he wasn\'t going to win.

Honda then got one of Aaron\'s motors and fitted it to a VTR (RC51). Just shows the versatility of Joey because he had been doing all the practices on the Fireblade. During the race he was being caught by David Jeffries on the RI but the bike stopped, so no one knows if Joey could have stayed in the lead.

Blair Degerholm was up to 8th, just behind the works bikes, riding sponsor Desi Collins Kawasaki, but had to retire because of a rear brake failure. Blair will also ride Richard Turner\'s 600 Kawa later.

And then on Monday Joey won his 25th TT race at IoM, the Lightweight 250 race on a Payne Honda RS250, followed by NZer Bruce Anstey (DTR Yamaha TZ250) Ian Lougher (RS250) then Shaun Harris from Taranaki on an RS250.

Further back at 15th was Hugh Reynolds (ChCh) on a TZ250, then Paul Williams on the Vimto RS250 at 21st. Run concurrently was the Lightweight 250/400 class, with NZer Brett Richmond 2nd on a Honda CBR400, Waikato\'s Nigel Bish (first time at the TT) on an RVF400.

Craig Shirriffs had high hopes in this class too. 8th after the first lap, then a flat battery early into the second lap dashed the high hopes.

Wednesday sees a rash of NZers in the 600 Production race.
