David Jefferies set the 2000 TT alight with a blistering lap of 124.43 mph on his Formula One V&M Yamaha R1 in Monday evening\'s thirs practice session.
The 27 year old Yorkshire ace made the most of the perfect weather conditions to lap In an incredible 18 minutes 11.6 seconds - just 0.2 of a second short of Jim Moodie\'s official outright lap record from last year.
Jefferies was 7.8s off the Junior record from a standing start with his initial lap on the 600 Yamaha in the early part of the session, going quicker still on the second circuit with a speed of 120.51.

But Ulsterman Adrian Archibald was three tenths of a second faster on his Dowd Honda to top the class and deny Jefferies a clean sweep of all three big bike categories for he was also top of the pile in the Production at 120.09.
Archibald and Jefferies were both unofficially well inside Ian Simpson\'s three year old record for the Junior.

Ramsey\'s Jason Grifrlths had an excellent night. He was second quickest to Jefferies in the F1 at 120.65, and best of the Lightweights at 117.90, just four seconds short of John McGuinness class best.

Dark horse Bruce Anstey was second fastest at 115.20, while fellow New Zealander Shaun Harris was second to Jefferies in the Proddy class on the GSXR750 Suzuki - well inside his own 750 class record.

McGuinness topped the Singles class, by some 40 seconds, while Brett Richmond and Craig Shirriffs led a close Kiwi 1-2 in the Lightweight 400 class.

Robert Dunlop was comfortably quickest in the 125s in front of Gary Dynes, however Sulby\'s Chris Grose put in another superb lap of 105.13 to deny Denis McCullough an Ulster rout of the top three spots.
