Kocinski to race AMA SB Duke - Bayliss stays on WSBK Duke.

Ducati has announced thay have taken on John Kocinski to ride in the American Superbike Championship. He will be riding as No 1 rider for Ducati Vance & Hines team.

A former World Superbike champion (1997) Kocinski will replace Australia\'s Troy Bayliss, who will take part in all remaining rounds of the 2000 World Superbike Championship with the Ducati Infostrada team. This Decision follows Bayliss\'s positive race performance at Monza.

The AMA championship which is still in its early stages after the cancellation of round 2 at Sears Point due to bad weather.

Ducati has decided to aim for victory by signing Kocinski. He will line up for the team in the two AMA races this weekend at Road Atlanta (GA) alongside team-mate Steve Rapp.

Kocinski has had experience with a Ducati Superbike, having ridden Ducatis in the 1996 WSBK championship. Then he won five races, ending up third overall.

Kocinski, also won the world 250cc title in 1990.
