Motorcycles on the increase in Britain.

Posted: Tue 30 May 2000

If NZ follows British trends then good news could be not to far away for Auckland dealers at least. Perhaps BRONZ should also seek more support for their annual \"Ride to work day\".

The Motorcycle News in the UK organises the same sort of event.

A new DETR (Similar to our LTSA) study Traffic in Great Britain, published last week, shows that two-wheel traffic rose 16 per cent between 1998 and 1999. This is a sharp increase after six years of little change and in sharp contrast to car traffic up by just one per cent, lorries up two per cent, vans up four per cent and bicycles up by a modest five per cent.

\"This suggests car growth has reached its limit and people are turning to two wheels as a way to beat traffic congestion,\" said Kathy Wheeler, of the Motor Cycle Industry Association.

Could be Aucklanders will not be to far behind their search to break the morning Grid Lock.
