Race 1 Monza

The Texas Tornado, Colin Edwards who got a great start from Pole position, was chased all the way by Frankie Chili who slowly but surely reeled in Edwards break on the field, to make the last couple of laps a real duel.

Chili had Edwards under so much pressure he overshot he chicane and shot across the grass.

Edward even looked back and urged Chili to take the lead a couple of laps out from the finish, in an effort to get the slip streaming position. Chili obliged but let Edwards through so he had the slipstream on the last lap. Coming out of the last corner Chili made use of the slipstream to win by 0.028 seconds in front of his home crowd.

Slight who crashed in Superpole qualifying started 16th on the grid, and no one got a better start. Going from 16th to 8th in the first lap. Slight got as high as third on the last lap but Bayliss passed him under braking and Aaron wound up on the grass and he finished 5th. \" I enjoyed the race, it was great fun\" said Aaron.

. Chili\'s win makes it a full house of manufacturers on the winner\'s podium, all seven (Honda, Ducati, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Aprilia, Bimota and now Suzuki) having won at least one race..

Race 2 Monza

Castrol Honda\'s Colin Edwards won today\'s second race in a thrilling fifth round of the World Superbike championship at Monza in Italy.

Edwards led from the start of race two and held the lead for all but three of the 18 laps, blocking ChiliĀ¹s move in the final corner, to finish 0.031s ahead of the Italian.

\"After Chili beat me in the first race I was determined to leave here with a win,\" said Edwards.

Aaron Slight was in seventh place, despite problems for the New Zealander late in the race. \"I\'m happy enough with where I finished but it\'s all down to me starting from 16th place on the grid,\" said Slight. \"By the time I finished the first lap I was in eighth, lapping about the same as the leaders but I couldn\'t close the gap to the leading group.\"

Slight explained his problems late in the race. \" About four laps from the finish, I was sick in my helmet. I just hiccuped and up came lunch! But today was another stepping stone for me. Hockenheim next and I\'m really looking forward to qualifying better and hopefully getting my first rostrum finish of the year.\"
