Free practice for the super bikers at Monza in Italy on Thursday saw Arron slight running 2nd to Colin Edwards. Edwards put in a top practice time of 1.46.819 at 298k. Slight was right up there with a 1.47.282 at 293k.

They were followed by Chilli 1.48.105, Corser at 1.48.124 and Lavilla at 1.48197.

The next five were Yanagawa, Haga, Antonello, and Guareschi.

Edwards is 11 point behind Haga, in the overall championship.

\" Monza is the track where I won my first World Superbike race, two years ago\" said Edwards. \" A repeat of that would be very nice, and Monza is a circuit which really suits the Michelin tyres so I\'m hoping for victory\".

Slight is a fan of Monza and he is hoping for improvement on his 7th and 9th at Donington.

Slight explained \" Donington Park was a bit of a shock for me. I thought I would be back in action and straight on the pace, but it was harder than I thought\'.

He is confident he will be stronger at the Monza track.

\"Monza is about 190mph slipstreaming battles and I know we\'ve got the machine in the new VTR to handle that\" said Aaron.
