Posted: Sun 07 May 2000

The 9th Ronald McDonald House Run was held today (7th May) Starting at Midday at Mission Bay (opposite McDonalds) the run wound its way around the Auckland waterfront and through the suburbs to \"Ronnie\"House in the Auckland Hospital grounds.

The Police provided an excellent escort which meant minimum disruption to traffic.

Once again it was wet, with the rain starting just after the run started and turning to solid rain as it wound it\'s way down through the Parnell shopping centre.

Groups of people were out on the route to see the 164 bikes pass. Many were \'two up\' providing a total of 254 bikers

Guest of honour was Kerry Woodham, who hitched a ride, \"I just held on really tight\",said Kerry. .There would have been no shortage of male volunteers to offer the ride.

There were some lucky prize draws, coffee, tea, sausages, and buns provided for the riders at the end of the run. Where a cheque for $1350.00 was handed over. There was also a huge Teddy Bear handed over for the kids at Ronnie house.

Perhaps next year it will be fine, but we won\'t bet on it.
