NW 200 Practice Update

Posted: Fri 05 May 2000

4th May 2000 : Tonight the weather played its ace at the Nw200 circuit In Northern Ireland. Fog rolled in and stopped the second practice before it even started. It was impossible to see from one end of the pits to the other.
The latest news from the committee is that everything will be as normal on Saturday, no extra laps or cuts in laps barring a mishap. The fact that there was only one practice leaves a slight problem. The regulations state that two laps must be completed with one of them at least at the qualifying speed. This leaves some of the riders without a start including New Zealanders Craig Shirriffs who broke down on the first lap of practice on Tuesday night and Jason Easton who has not yet posted a lap time.
The organizers will post the grid positions and appeals will probably be heard from those without a start.
Shaun Harris sits at 18th on the practice leader board after a flying lap at 104.7092 MPH average speed on Tuesday evening. Craigs bike has been repaired by his support team and Dynoed at 114hp well up on a standard 600.
