Motorcycling NZ supports rider training

Posted: Wed 22 Mar 2000

The motorcycle rider training program started by Motorcycling New Zealand in 1995 will continue with the re appointment of former MNZ coaching director Nick Reader. Motorcycling New Zealand have invested funds and other resources into supporting a motorcycle rider training program delivered by Nick Reader Enterprises.

MNZ Executive Director Sandra Perry says motorcycling in New Zealand is very strong with many keen riders spending their weekends riding bikes in forests, farms, MX tracks, road circuits and leisure riding. Many of these riders wish to improve their riding abilities which is where rider training fits the picture.

Former Coaching Director Nick Reader has put together a training programme similar to the program offered in 1999. The majority of sport riders will be catered for including motorcross, minis, cross country, enduro, trail riding, road racing and road leisure riders. Events will be held throughout the country from Whangarei to Gore.

According top Nick Reader quality rider training is often the key to getting people into motorcycling and keeping riders in the sport. Training increases confidence, control and safety.

Role model trainers will continue to bring their experience and knowledge to the training events. Motorcross riders Cameron Negus and Michael Cotter and Road Racing riders Brian Bernard and John Hepburn will support the coaching program. Each have the Coaching New Zealand and MNZ Coaching qualifications.

Training dates will be in all national motorcycling magazines and from the MNZ website.
