Suzuki Road Race Plus Formula Extreme FAQ

Posted: Fri 18 Feb 2000

As we move closer to the first round of the 2000 Suzuki Road Race Series on March 5th at Manfeild, entries are starting to flow in. However, there are some FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) which I will help with as they come in. Here are a few -

Q. If I want to ride the Pirelli Sports Production 600 class but don\'t want to use Pirelli tyres, what class do I enter?
A. Only the Pirelli controlled tyres can be used in this 600cc class, so your option is to ride your 600 in the Open Sport Production Class, and/or the A, B, or C Grade classes which are based on your lap times.
The Pirelli Evo Dragon tyres have been very successful in overseas events & are now available in New Zealand. Their latest technology with a new high tech fibre called Pentec, gives riders the best options of elasticity, nimble handling, optimal braking stability, good shock absorption, and weight reduction. To have a first class tyre available to riders at a very special price gives everyone a chance to cut their racing costs, as well as operate from a \"level playing field\" in our race series.
Pirelli tyres & fitting will be available at each round & on receipt of your entry, you may purchase tyres ahead of the series for testing.
Please contact me if you have any other questions.

Q. Is there an additional entry fee for riders competing in the Suzuki Gold Cup?
A. No. If you are riding a Suzuki GSXR600 or GSXR750 in the Pirelli Sports Production classes, you will gain points & could win contingency money in the Suzuki Gold Cup competition. Again Pirelli tyres are exclusive to this Suzuki Gold Cup class.

Q. Where are the cut off points for A, B & C grading on lap times?
A. A Grade is better than 1min 21secs at Manfeild , or at Taupo better than 47 secs. B Grade is between 1min 21 & 1min 28 at Manfeild, and 47 secs to 51 secs at Taupo, while C Grade is beyond those times.
However, the top four placings from B, C & Novice Grades last year, have to move up to the next higher grade for 2000.

Q & A. Formula Xtreme - there are 2 classes but just one lot of prizemoney. We will separate out the points of the \"FX Thunderclass\" later in the series, and those riders will have \"T/C\" marked alongside their surname on the results.

I have just received a Formula Xtreme newsletter from Terry O\'Neill of Formula Xtreme Promotions in Sydney, outlining the calendar, sponsors, prizes, and progress of Formula Xtreme in Australia. I will relay this information on via the Silver-Bullet website in a day or two.

Please contact me by phone, fax or e-mail if I can help with more questions.
