Broxholme Flies Into 2000

First equal in the national motorcycle cross-country champs in 1999, young Tauranga star Peter Broxholme is gearing up to win the title outright this year - and bag other championships as well.

The talented young Castrol Honda rider, just 17, already has a national junior motocross title to his name - in 1998, riding while injured - and represented the North Island last year.

Now Broxholme has turned his sights on three top events for 2000: the motocross, supercross and cross country nationals.

It\'s a big ask but the youngster has come into the new year in flying form on the Castrol Honda CR125 racebike with a fighting third in the Christmas motocross spectacular at Whakatane.

\"Everybody was riding a bit over the top, including me,\" Broxholme comments.

\"In the first race I rode too hard into the lead, lost a hand off the bars and crashed. I had to ride the rest of the event with a swollen arm, and I was pleased to be only a single point behind the visiting New Caledonian champ at the end.\"

With support from Central Districts Honda, Broxholme is a name New Zealand will be hearing again.
