The picturesque Livinston property at Te Pahu, nestled on the slopes of Mt Pirongia, has been secured for the running of this Observed Trial on January 30, 2000.

This property has easy access good parking and picnic areas for the family. There is a stream running through the property offering various levels of difficulty to suit all riders, from a wide shallow section with small rocks to narrower sections with large boulders with the odd deep pool thrown in for surprise.

Neil McCabe, well known in trials circles, will be overseeing the course to provide a challenge for all levels of rider.

A few of you may be wondering just exactly what are the “South Pacific Masters Games”? Essentially, they are a group of sports somewhat like a mini-Olympics or Commonwealth games, open to competitors from around the South Pacific, with the crucial qualification being they are of senior or veteran status.

The competition in each sport is divided into age groups, and competitors are vying for medals rather than prizemoney. There will be several thousand people converging in Hamilton to compete in sports as diverse as athletics, swimming, shooting, yachting etc. Believe it or not, you become a veteran swimmer on achieving the ripe old age of 25!

Our competition will be open to males over 30, and women over 25. The number of divisions will be decided by entry numbers, but everyone no matter what age should have a chance against their age group to achieve a medal.

It is advisable to pre-enter, and games entry forms are available in various locations around the country, or contact HMCC, PO Box 416, Hamilton or via email.
