For the next Superbike season, Aprilia has decided to collaborate with
the Australian rider Troy Corser, former 1996 World Champion in the
class. The contract will last two years (2000 and 2001). Aprilia has
great faith in this rider\'s capabilities and will to win. With Corser,
the RSV Mille is expected to make a great leap forward in quality after
its apprenticeship in the 1999 season, the first for the Noale-based
company in the standard-derived large four-stroke championships.
In the words of Aprilia Chairman Ivano Beggio:
\"Aprilia made its debut in the World Superbike Championships only in
1999. The season was not without satisfaction and we accumulated a
wealth of valuable experience on the tracks.
Now, with the arrival of a world championship rider such as Troy Corser
on our RSV Mille, the Aprilia team is getting ready to challenge the
World Superbike Championship leaders. And as you will see, we will not
have to wait long for results. Good luck Tony.\"
In an initial statement, Troy Corser adds:
\"I am really happy to have signed a contract with Aprilia. I tested the
1999 motorcycle in wet conditions and even in that difficult situation,
I was impressed. I am convinced that the potential of the Aprilia RSV
Mille is truly great, even better than imagined. This challenge
therefore fascinates and stimulates me greatly. I can’t wait to begin
testing the 2000 motorcycle.\"
