The first qualifying practice sessions of the Imola Grand Prix
in Italy have been completed. Jean Michel Bayle recorded the
best time in the 500cc event of 1:49.345, followed by Alex Barros
and world champion Mick Doohan. New Zealander, Simon Crafer, is in
15th position with a time of 1:51.659.
The 250cc event is led by championship leader Tetsuya Harada
on an Aprilia with a time of 1:53.560, followed by Loris Capirossi
and Olivier Jacque.
Rookie Marco Melandri is leading the 125cc class on 1:59.795.
Tomomi Manako is on second with Roberto Locatelli in 3rd.
