Crazy Cross & Root 100 Back Again

Posted: Thu 10 Oct 2013

Feel like some extra practice before the final 2 rounds of the “KTM Extreme Enduro Series”, Come to sunny Northland in the new year for a holiday where Bike Park at The Farm is holding its annual new year’s motorcycle events.

On Friday the 3th Jan is the Crazy Cross, a mix of Moto Cross, Enduro Cross and Cross country. This is a fun event designed to give riders a variety of different riding, and spectators some entertainment. Set in a natural basin, it offers a multitude of prime spectator vantage points. This is a perfect opportunity to get some practice for the Te Puke Enduro X or to just have a fun day out on your motorcycle. (For more info click here)

On Sat 4th Jan is The Root 100. This is like the Tarawera 100 used to be, a hard, physically demanding days riding.

A mix of open and tight, some bulldozed tracks but the emphasis is on medium to tight single trail, steep up and down hills, creeks, bogs, logs etc. Probably suits Enduro/Cross country riders over MX style of riding. Long, demanding, physical, a real test for man and machine.

Last year Paul Whibley had a slow start to the day as he came to grips with the track and terrain, with Mitchell Nield posting the fastest first lap. As the day went on though it was Paul that prevailed with top honours with Mitchell second for the 3rd consecutive year.

Who will win the cash and bragging rights this year? Is this year Mitchells year? Will Paul come back and defend his title? Will Rory Mead turn up with his overseas experience to claim win number three? Will Chris Birch do his first Root 100? Will a top Motocross rider turn up and beat the Enduro riders at their own game as they have at most of the other off road events around NZ? Have you got what it takes to topple them?

For the answers to these questions, come to the Root 100 at The Farm this New Years. (For more info click here)
