SIX HOUR CANCELLED!

Posted: Wed 13 Oct 2010

2010 was supposed to be the big one. Some awesome new properties were secured and it was all looking good.... until the rains came.

OK. No choice. So Lyn Youren bit the bullet and did the only thing she could: she put the date back a month.

Now the rug has been pulled out from under her feet.

The 6-hour organisers had negotiated with Patoka Dairies and Mr Geoff Oxenham for the use of their properties way back in May.

Last Satuday night, Pete Scheele, the lease-holder, rang and withdrew his consent.

Lyn and Dave don't know what his concerns are and have been unable to get him to change his mind.

It is impossible to loop the track without the use of the edge of three paddocks, the lane way, and tracks.

It is too late for the forest season and there are no other properties big enough to hold it at such late notice.

The Pacific club now have a sizable tab to pick up and no event.

Lyn wants to stress that both property owners are very unhappy with the way things have turned out, not to mention the local school who were doing the food for fund raising, and the Thirsty Whale who now have the band "Naked Gun "booked and no event.

In fact, she wishes to extend a big thankyou to Suzuki NZ, as well as the property owners Patoka Dairies and Geoff Oxenham. She would also like to thank the Pacific Club and all the other people who were involved in the event preparation.

This was to be the 20th Anniversary event – it will now hold it on Saturday 1st October  2011. Hopefully the riders will support this event.
