MOMCC Winter Cup Mototrial June 13, 2010
There was no doubting the winter conditions for the Winter Cup Mototrial last Sunday. It was wet and cold at the Foley Road venue near Woodville for the ten riders who fronted up. And three of those were from Taranaki and one from Hawkesbay. At least the Naki boys were familier with the climate but the Bay one forgot we have less sunshine here and came without a jacket.
Luckily though the sections that Phil Stephenson and Warrick George set out the previous day were in a reasonably sheltered valley under pine trees, and for three of the four laps it didn’t rain.
The sections consisted of mainly steep banks, logs, a few smaller loose rocks and tree roots. Nothing was too hard and the scores weren’t too high.
Matt Foster from New Plymouth was the star of the day losing only 18 points in the A Grade, and most of those were on the final two laps. As usual Warrick George and myself were neck and neck with only two points between us at the end.
Lets hope we can get back on this venue in the future as it’s just been sold.
The next mototrial will be the third round of the club champs on July 18th near the end of Opawe Rd off the Pohangina Valley East Road.
