Metalman-KMP CC, Rnd 2

Posted: Mon 19 Apr 2010

It was a mixed bag for the Metalman KMP team at round 2 with the youngest team member Cam Downing (KX125) showing consistent form backing up his previous result with an outstanding ride in the 2 stroke unders class for an overall placing of 17th and 3rd in class placing him in the number 2 spot for the series to date.

Jason Moorfield (KX450F) had an awesome start and looked exceptionally strong, running well inside the top 10, but after 4 laps in on the well marked but extremely fast track the pit crew had underestimated the fuel consumption of the 450 and Jason did not return.

Hermy (KX250F) also got a strong start but suffered a first lap multiple crash braking his much needed brake lever, a quick pit stop saw him loose several positions which he battled throughout the day to regain eventually climbing back to 19th overall and first in the veterans class.

Luke Ramsey(KX250F) although battered and bruised from his big crash at Waipukurau pushed through the pain and with a reasonable start fought well on the rocky fast track to capture a well earnt 6th overall and 2nd in the 4 stroke unders class.

The Nelson Club did an excellent job marking the track, however with the land they had available unfortunately the average speed was very high suiting the bigger capacity bikes, the only 250F running top 5 was Sam Greenslade (RMZ250) who had his bike valve bouncing all day for a brave 4th overall and 1st in class.

Sean Fogerty and his KTM525 had both the grunt and grit to take the win over defending champ Adam Reeves (YZF450), followed by John O’Dea (RMZ450), Sam Greenslade (RMZ250), Michael Vinning (RMX450) again showing true grit riding most of the event with no clutch lever.

Michael and Luke just missed the flag for an extra lap.

We have a 2 week break till the 3rd round which will be held in Martinborough near Wellington on the 1st of May.

The team looks forward to this round and will come out blazing as the championship gets near the pointy end.
