Hi,
We the Maungaturoto Primary School PTA would like to thank all those who attended our 2nd annual Trail Ride held last weekend the 21st of February. We had 282 registered riders.
It had been a wet Winter that caused a lot of plugging, then a very long dry spell that made the ground very hard. Hence the trail was quite rough in places in the morning. But after lunch and many bikes travelling over the same ground it started to wear in and the rough areas disappeared. The track got much faster, the only draw back was that it got real dusty.
We have set the date for the 3rd Trail ride as the 20th of February 2011. We will be adding more Expert only sections as well as trying to get a bit more distance to the loop. We are also looking to add some more bush sections too. Improvements will be made to the Kids loops. The ground where our junior loop was very rough and unpleasant to ride on and will be rectified for next year. The senior kids loop total 1600 metres. We will endeavor to lengthen it and add a few more bits.
