Event: World Motorcross Championship 500cc Rnd 13
Venue: LEIROP, Holland
Date: 4-5 September 1999
Track Conditions: Deep sand in all parts of the track, becoming very rough during racing Sunday with big holes.
Weather Conditions: Very hot and humid both days

Qualifying: I was in the first group for qualifying so the track was still in good condition. I really enjoy riding sand now so the track was just to my liking. I improved lap times throughout to do my best lap at the end and qualified 7th. I was pleased with this result

RACE ONE: I had a first corner crash but got up quickly and worked my way through the pack. I felt really good and had energy to charge, but could only make it up to 16th by the end of the race.

RACE TWO: My start was mid pack but again I made a charge at the start of the race to quickly make my way to 15th place in the first 10 minutes, after that I was really tired but very determined to fight to the end to stay in points. Later in the race I made another charge to finish 9th.

COMMENTS: I have so much confidence riding sand now and it felt great to finish the season with a really good last race. This result of top 10 is something I have been striving for since returning to GP racing in June. Overall in the championship I finished 27th with 20 points. It was not as good a result as I had hoped for this season, but OK considering I missed the first 4 GP\'s with injury. Now I am looking forward to ending the motocross season with some German Inter DM\'s and Dutch Championship races.
