Motorex KTM Pro Open racer Jay Marmont is within seconds of reigning Supercross Champion Daniel Reardon in lap times as the two continue to battle for the 2007 Australian Supercross Championship crown.

The penultimate round taking place this Saturday evening March 10, at Rosedale in Victoria will see former Pro Open Champion, Jay Marmont on a mission to claim his first win since returning from the USA, in order to go into the final round in NSW on March 24, one point ahead of Reardon.

Commenting on his racing, Jay Marmont said, “As Daniel Reardon crossed the finish line at the previous round in Avalon, I was only two seconds behind him, and I honestly feel if the promoters hadn’t cut the lap duration from 20 laps to 15 laps, I would have caught him.

“I now have to win this weekend at Rosedale to be one point ahead of Reardon going into the final round at Dapto in NSW.

“At the opening Supercross round in Adelaide, I was coming back from injury and went out on the track 1 to 1.5 seconds behind Daniel Reardon, then at Avalon I was only half to 1 second behind him so hopefully this weekend I can real him in.

“I have been pushing the KTM 450 SX-F to the limit to chase Daniel Reardon down so only seconds separate us. He’s great to ride with and when we battle on the race track the best comes out of both of us.”

According to Motorex KTM Race Team Manager, Ross McWatters, the gap is closing fast between Daniel Reardon and Jay Marmont as he states this should be the weekend that Jay takes the win.

“Jay had to iron out a few race nerves since returning from the USA to take on his old arch rivals back in Australia. Then he had to overcome injury and regain his fitness.

“He now feels confident to have built up the strength and mind set to reclaim the Pro Open title, so the Motorex KTM camp are confident he will take the win this weekend,” said McWatters.

In the Pro Lites class, Jay’s younger brother Ryan Marmont is leading the charge zoning in on winning his second consecutive Australian Supercross Championship.

The 2006 Supercross and Motocross Champion and his faithful KTM 250 SX-F have been a combined force to be reckoned with, putting in constant podium performances that have seen the 21 year old retain the Pro Lite Championship lead for 2007.
