Eaton Has It All

MARCH 01, 2007: What a man needs to be a successful motorcycle racer is riding talent, a great bike and an understanding girlfriend.

Fortunately, Foxton's Jason Easton has all three.

After round four of five in this season's New Zealand Motorcycle Road-racing Championships, the 32-year-old Easton is No.2 on the formula three points table, but there's much more to occupy his mind at present than just bike racing and the arable farm he works during the week.

He gets married to long-time sweet-heart Anna tomorrow (Friday), then, instead of having a honeymoon, he heads away to Pukekohe on his own, to contest the fifth and final round of the nationals.

“Anna is a great supporter of my racing. She's my biggest fan,” said Easton.

“We'll have a honeymoon at a later date, possibly in Thailand or Darwin ... somewhere hot anyway.”

And if it's the heat he favours, he's sure to find it hot at Pukekohe next weekend (March 10-11).

The Yamaha ace is 18 points behind Oamaru's Andy Bolwell in the F3 title chase but and not prepared to concede defeat just yet.

“There are 75 points up for grabs (25 points in each of three races) at Pukekohe, so it's not over yet. Anything can happen and the pressure is really on Andy for him to finish all three races.

“My bike (a Tigcraft Yamaha 450) is ultra reliable, so I know I'll finish the races.

“I'm getting good mileage out of this bike, especially considering the revs it is expected to pull.

“It's a tough class, with four or five riders capable of winning every time we go out.”
