Consistent Coppins takes the win in Valence.

Josh Coppins has raced to victory at the Valence International aboard his Factory Rinaldi Yamaha making it his second consecutive of the season. The Kiwi posted a consistent 3-3-1 to notch up the overall on a very rough and one-lined track due to heavy overnight rain.

Coppins was happy with his performance over the three heat format and stamped his authority on the final moto by passing rivals Philippaerts and Strijbos in the first two laps. “Lizzard” controlled the race until the end to take the checkered flag.

“The track was pretty tricky with the rain we had last night. I missed the first practice and only went out for the timed qualifying which explains why I had a little arm pump and struggled a bit. My objective today was to have three good starts and three consistent races which I achieved. I took it pretty easy in the first two races because the track was pretty dangerous – very one-lined, rough, rutty and slippery. For the final moto I knew if I pushed a bit harder I could win and take the overall. I have been a little bit spoilt in New Zealand and down in Italy where the tracks have been just about perfect and today was the first time that I have had to ride in mud and tricky conditions,” commented Coppins.

Coppins will return to his base in Belgium for a few days before packing his bags for the Hawkstone Park MX International next weekend.
