Brilliant sunshine greeted all who attended yesterday’s YAMAHA "Battle of the Streets" on the streets of the central Hauraki Plains town of Paeroa, to watch some sizzling road racing.

The near capacity crowd was not disappointed and YAMAHA did exceptionally well. With only 19 riders out of the 212 total entries, Yamaha riders picked up four wins, one second and five thirds from nineteen races, of which six were classes in which Yamaha machines were not eligible.

Australian "Young Gun" Chris Seaton picked up a win and a third on his Yamaha R1 in Formula One and two thirds on his R6 in Formula Two, while the Lawrance Brothers (Auckland) took two wins on the Yamaha 600 cc powered sidecar.

Foxton’s Jason Easton on his Yamaha powered Tigcraft came home with a win and a second in Formula Three and Auckland’s Toby Summers scored two thirds in the Supermotos on his YZF450.

Yesterday was also the second and final round of the "Battle of the Streets" Series, round one being the Boxing Day meeting at Wanganui.

Yamaha riders out-rode stiff opposition to take three wins and two seconds in the five "Battle of the Streets" classes.

Chris Seaton finished second in both Formula One and Formula Two, Jason Easton took the win in Formula Three, the Lawrance Brothers the win in Sidecars and Toby Summers the win in the new Supermoto class.
