Race Report- Bush Riders XC Round 2
Team- Carian Honda, Stringfellows, Moto SR
Rider- Paul Whibley
Bike- Honda CRF 450

The day after I raced the Raglan Rox 4hr teamed with Mason Slako, I raced Rnd 2 of the Bush Riders XC series.

The race was held on the Ingles farm up near the windmills behind Woodville. When I arrived at the track I had doubts whether they would run the race. The wind was blowing so hard and drizzly rain was stinging the face as it came in sideways.

But I guess that's the reason why the windmills are there, and I'm sure it gets a lot worse up there than that.

At briefing we were informed that it wasn't that bad out there despite rumors floating around that one of the guys opening the course had been blown of his bike.

With the look lap completed I wasn't any more confident with the conditions. Drizzle made the short green grass slippery as hell, and the constant buffering from the strong winds was not making things any easier.

''Look out for the rocks'' also was a smart warning that was handed out at briefing.

We lined up for the start and the shotgun blast signaled the race was on. I took the holeshot and the 50 bucks that went with it.

I lead most of the first lap and only dropped to 2nd when I took a wrong turn. Cam Smith took the lead and charged on up front until he stalled his bike. I was right up his date and took immediate advantage of his mistake.

Once I was back in the lead I wasn't about to give it up again and poured it on extending my lead through the race.

The conditions weren't as bad as originally feared and the wind and rain seemed to ease as the event progressed. By race end, much of the green grass had been cut off and most riders really enjoyed the race.

I took the win with local Adam Reeves on his RMZ 450 in 2nd. Cam Smith had some brake issues mid race but fought back and closed in on Adam late in the race, but had to settle for 3rd.
