Waitemata Women continue to impress

Posted: Thu 16 Nov 2006

Day three of the Maxxis tyres international six day enduro (ISDE) drew to a close with more wet conditions and the weather expected to continue into November 17.

The only two New Zealand women, Hazel Rushworth and Wendy Robinson are both in good shape despite trying terrain.

Hazel said, “There was one downhill, Duncan's Downhill, which had ruts up the bottom of your tank. It was a feet out ski to the bottom.”

The two Kiwis are in a select group, just thirteen women started the event but three have already fallen prey to the deep ruts and the clock.

Wendy is sitting comfortably in fifth out of the women and is placed 456 overall. She also holds a slim margin over Hazel who follows in sixth and is 464 overall.

Chris Ward who was part of the team with Wendy and Hazel unfortunately was finished over his alloted hour so was excluded at the end of day two.

Day four has some fresh tracks but is running to the A clock – less trail time – than today which saw riders on the B clock.
