A4DE – Top NZ Riders Prepare for 6 Day

Posted: Wed 21 Jun 2006

The Australian Four Day Enduro is nigh! Nineteen riders are heading off to the A4DE to compete in what is essentially the Australian Championships primarily to sharpen up their skills, speed and international enduro knowledge ahead of the International Six Day Enduro at Taupo in November this year.

Confirmed Members of the ISDE National Teams include National Champion Chris Birch, Kevin Archer and 2006 450cc 4T Champ Karl Power while 2006 250cc 4T Champ Mitchell Nield, Heath Howlett, Jason Davis and 2006 National X Country Champ Adrian Smith are hoping to put in good performances to snatch the fourth place in the Junior Trophy Team for November.

The sly old dog (Many times NZ Champion) Sean Clarke is taking on the Aussie Vets and in particular Geoff Ballard who has had a strangle hold on the vets trophy for the last 6 or so years.

2005 200cc Champ Christopher Power is going for a hat trick of three gold medals being the only NZ rider to have gained gold in both the last two A4DE events.

With a 6 man Trophy Team, a 4 Man Junior Team and three 3 man Club teams, it will be all go for the experienced support crew led by none other than Team Manager Trevor Power.

Fifteen Bikes and associated paraphernalia required for the A4DE assault by the largest traveling team since the 1998 ISDE was loaded into a container last week and shipped to Australia to be a the Park Ferme by the time the team arrives. This was made possible by Steven Croad Past National X Country Champion) from Northern Accessories who arranged all the necessary paperwork, logistics and support. Without this incredible support from Steven and Northern Accessories the team would have had enormous expenses and mush difficulty with officialdom and the like. Fantastic Steve and a big thanks from all the riders.

A big thanks also to Kiri Nield for all her admin work and of course to Trevor Power who year after year has put the team together and managed the whole thing. Invaluable.

We are looking forward to checking out their results and cheering them on in spirit.
