In the weekend of the 30th April, I raced round 3 of the OMA series. This is a fairly high profile race series and attracks some top pros. It also has a reputation of having some tough courses.
After the look lap (only the pro class) we lined up ready for the start. The loop was muddy and had a mix of roots and rocks. There was some fresh track as well that was pretty tight. The course would suit 2 strokes and Shane Watts lined up on his 125.
I got an average start, but a few riders went down on the grass section before the woods. I entered the woods in about 9th. I slowly made my way past some guys and into 6th by the end of lap 1.
Mid race Watts caught and passed me but I latched onto the back of him and learned some lines. After a lap of chasing him , he crashed in a rocky creek and I pulled away from him and pushed on towards the front.
After 2 hours and 45 min I crossed the line in what I thought was 5th, but Kath told me that I had passed a couple of guys on the last lap and actually finished 3rd.
It was hard to tell who I was racing against as we were all so covered in mud.
