Whibley struggling in sand

Hi Guys

Man its been flat out over here. Round 1 and 2 have been and gone, and round 3 is a week away.

Round 1 was held in Florida in soft dry sand.It was unbelievably rough. There was over 1500 riders on the course over the 2 days.

I got a good jump at the start but went down in turn 1 with a couple of other riders. I got going again but was struggling a bit with the soft dry sand and unfamilar 450.

I pushed all race and climbed to 16th after being back in 22 on the first lap.

I was happy to take some pionts in my first race and we learned some things about the bike. Many of the other top riders had spent several weeks practicing in the sand and perfecting a setup. I only left NZ a week and a half before the first race and only learned I was riding a 450 less than a week before the race.

Round 2 was in Georgia. The coarse was mostly bush with lots of ruts and boggy bits plus a hard pack mx track with some decent jumps.

I got a bad start, the bike only started after 3 or 4 kicks. There was a pile up in the first corner but I avoided that and headed into the woods. I got arm pump in the first lap and had to ride easy, the course was cutting up and a lot of roots and chop was making work tough.

I rode hard all race and passed a couple guys late in the race to finish 6th. Real happy with that and Scott and the team were stoked to get a good result.

Thanks to everyone that have sent emails of support.
