TALISAY CITY, Cebu -- New Zealander James Robinson 2005 Asia Pacific Motocross Champion stole the show from Filipino ace Glenn Aguilar on Sunday, clinching the professionals open crown in the first round of the Camel Supercross International Championship Series at the Talisay Stadium here.

Aguilar, the 2004 Asian supercross champion, consoled himself by topping the professionals 125 cc division earlier at the expense of countryman Filipino Jovie Saulog and Robinson, who placed second and third, respectively.

After going neck-and-neck in the first three laps, Robinson, a former international supercross titlist, pulled away from Aguilar after the Filipino fell in the final turn of the fourth lap.

Aguilar’s mishap left him 500 meters behind the Kiwi with 11 laps to go and the best he could do was narrow the gap to 450 meters by the end of the race to finish as first runner-up.

Robinson was riding a 2004 KX 250f while Glenn had a major advantage riding a 2005 CR 450f!
