Castrol Honda 6 Hour X Country Race

Burts Farm, Matata – Bay of Plenty

Coming up on the 4th March is the Castrol Honda 6 Hour X Country race at Matata where many of the countries top racers will assemble to go head to head for glory over six grueling hours of racing.

The course, designed by Paul Mossman, covers a selection of farmland (10%), Lucatania Bush Track (20%), Gum Plantation with single trail (40%) and Pine Forest with fast and tight sections (30%).

GNCC Ltd is promoting the event so you can expect another quality race with professionals at the helm and a crew of experienced organisers all mucking in to produce a fantastic format.

Unlike other 6 Hour races, the Castrol Honda Six Hour is in two separate classes.

R1 is for one motorcycle with up to two riders. This is the premier class that will test the reliability and durability of motorcycles. One bike racing for six hours is definitely an indication of excellence.

The R2 class caters for riders who want to have a go but don’t want their bike thrashed by anyone else. So this is a class for Two bikes and up to Two riders. Mates can ride their own bike yet team up for the six hour. Clubman type riders are expected to fill this field challenging for the R2 Trophy.

A Solo class is also run and these riders compete in the R1 (one Bike) class.

Sponsors are keen to be involved with this prestigious event and beside Castrol and Honda they include Kiwi Rider Magazine, Michelin tyres, Regina Chain, FFM Helmets, Acerbis Brush Guards, Spy Goggles, Wirtz Levers, Chiaravalli Sprockets and Bay Honda.

Also associated is the Honda Riders Club of NZ, GNCC ltd, RaceSync scoring systems and Power Adventures.

Entry on the day is available at no extra cost and riders get entered into all the classes they are eligible for (age group, cc rating, ladies, etc, etc) also at no extra cost.

Results will be a happening thing with live feeds to monitors and regular print outs. Teams can keep track of their progress and the opposition on a minute by minute basis.

During the race, “resting” competitors and spectators can enter the two competitions running. Tyre changing and Chain Changing. Be the fastest and win the tyre or chain on offer. Prize giving will be at the track following the Gourmet BBQ and Hill Climb competition that can be viewed from the Pits. All this and more for only $120 for Teams and $65 for Solo riders.
