Storming back...

New Zealand’s favourite trail ride is back!

Storming back after 4 months of negotiations, Nick Reader of Epic Events has secured the land access permit from Winstone Pulp International to run Suzuki Desert Storm once again.

In 2005 Suzuki Desert Storm was a truly epic event attended by a record 1450 riders on the Saturday and over 1000 riders on the Sunday. Unfortunately the event was overshadowed by a head on incident occurring outside of event hours and off the event trails. The head on resulted in the fatality of a rider and serious injury to a staff member.

As a result of the incident, the Desert Storm Management plan has been overhauled by Epic Events, Winstone Pulp International, a sporting event auditor and of course Lawyers to make sure that the event is run correctly with minimal risks to all involved. So riders can be assured that all Epic Events are well run.

The 7th Suzuki Desert Storm promises to offer all the good stuff that the event is famous for. The riding is varied and flows through pine forest, streams, 4WD tracks and alpine firebreaks along the edge of Mount Ruapehu. The riding is unique and the scenery unbeatable.

The tracks took a hammering last year with the Saturday rain so a major grading exercise is being undertaken to ensure all the favourite trails are brought back to a high spec.

There are always new trails to be discovered and Nick will be on his Suzuki DRZ hunting these out to bring you more exhilarating riding.

We have more of the fun stuff too - entertainment, the extremely popular barrel race of 2005 will be held again, as well as video footage of the days riding, tunes from the Red Bull Hummer, bonfires and beers.

So tell your mates and set aside 29-30 April 2006 for Suzuki Desert Storm.

The location is Karioi forest, State Highway 49, Ohakune

Entry forms will be out by 20 March 2006 on www.epicevents.co.nz
