Going bush is a past time often reserved for those stalking animals. However on Saturday 29 February the Suzuki National Enduro Chmpionship heads to the pine forest of Waimiha.
The location is roughly halfway between Te Kuiti and Taumaranui. The course will feature many areas of new track as Gary Powell, course designer and event organizer, has spent loads of time building a fantastic track with fresh trails.
The weather can make the pine forest a little slippery so it pays to invest in new rubber to make life easier just in case as Enduro is renowned for drought braking. In this case Cater Holt Harvey have asked everyone to bring along extinguishers due to the fire risk.
Directions:
From Te Kuiti, take the Highway signposted as Bennydale or Rotorua – straight on from the main township and not up the hill. You will stay on this road for about half an hour before coming to a turnoff over the railway tracks. The event will be signposted well from here.
If you are heading from Taumaranui, head north out of the township for roughly 40km. You will see a turn off on you right to Waimiha and on the left will be a Blackfern lodge sign. Turn right onto this road and follow the signs to Waimiha from there.
If you are coming from the Taupo/Rotorua side, you will need to turn off state highway one on the Bennydale/Te Kuiti road and follow it till you get to the Waimiha turnoff.
