Palmerston North’s Craig Shirriffs completed an exceptional season on January 21/22, when he took out the 2006 NZ Grand Prix for 600 Sports Production machines on his Haldane Motorcycles’ Suzuki GSXR600 at Ruapuna Park, just outside Christchurch.

The thirty two year old plumber won the 600 Sports Production Championship the previous weekend at Timaru, but looked to complete his season with a GP win.

From fifteen races this season, Shirriffs had ten wins (the last seven in a row), four seconds and a sixth. In winning the Grand Prix the last race of the Championship, Shirriffs set a new 600 Sports Production lap record at Ruapuna.

When asked about his season Shirriffs said " I would like to thank my mechanic, Chris Osborn, my partner Jo, the kids Amy and Samantha."

Shirriffs added "We could not have done it, without all the help from the likes of Suzuki NZ, Haldane Motorcycle, Robert Taylor from Hawera Motorcycles, Forbes and Davies, Crown Kiwi Enterprises, Darbi Accessories and R & R Performance".

The next challenge is the "Battle of the Streets" at Paeroa.
