The Castrol Honda Red Riders revelled in the fine dry conditions at Round Five of the SsangYong New Zealand Road Race Championships at Ruapuna Raceway, just outside Christchurch last weekend January 21/22 2006.

Hamilton’s Jared Love and Nelson’s Dean Fulton both had good weekends on the CBR1000RRs, running with the leaders, both experienced a poor start, Fulton in race one and Love in race two.

When the riders formed on the grid for the Superbike Grand Prix, both were hungry for a good result. At the completion of the fifteen laps the Honda Red Riders were fourth and fifth respectively.

So, with a fourth, an eighth and a fourth this weekend Love finished fifth overall in the championship, while with a sixth, a fourth and a fifth, Fulton picked up sixth overall.

In the 600 Sports Production class, Pukekohe’s Hayden Fitzgerald was having a very successful weekend.

In race one Fitzgerald was dicing for fourth when he slid off at the hairpin, he remounted to finish thirteenth. Race two saw him finish fourth and with a fifth in the 600 Sports Production Grand Prix, Fitzgerald completed his first championship on the Honda CBR600RR fifth overall.
