A4DE: Last Man Standing

Posted: Sat 30 Jul 2005

Sean Clarke started out today in severe pain and is trying to finish by riding the whole course standing up. His shoulder is too sore to sit down at the moment. He is taking some of Trevors serious pain killers and hopes to be at the final MX tomorrow.

News just through is that Michael Phillips got tangled in a fence at about 10 am this morning and lost two minutes at the next check.

Everyone else is going well through the first three tests although fatigue is now setting in. Some of the new riders are starting to realise that a four day event is quite strenuous let alone a 6 day event.

The crews are working hard to keep the riders going and are encouraging them to keep on time and give their all. Mark Whyte, Christoper Power and Karl Power (here last year) know the requirements of a multi day event and have been pacing themselves for this the day that sees most DNF's through machine failure and rider fatigue.

must get back to the park furme and ready the area for the riders as they return ready to fit tyres, filters and do oil changes.

Thanks to Castrol for the lubricants, to Murphy Busses for the sponsorship of fuel money and to Northerns for the containers and the Michelin tyres. MNZ funding and support is fantastic too. Don't forget Wrightsons for the team uniforms.

More as soon as I get the information
