Chris Power: NZ Under 200cc Champ

Christopher Power has achieved the ultimate goal in domestic Enduro! Christopher has won the Under 200cc Two Stroke New Zealand Enduro Championship.

Putting pressure on himself by changing classes after the first round earlier in February, Christopher has had to make each and every round count towards his series results eliminating the luxury of dropping a round as all those who rode the complete five rounds were able to.

It didn’t come easy to the Power Racing Honda CR125 rider who almost lost the chance at the fourth round at Waimiha where an incorrectly fitted steering head bearing seized causing an unchacterastic 7th place and low points. The final round at his home ground in Woodhill Forest was the decider with nothing les than a win needed to clinch the event and thus secure the first of what is predicted to be future championships.

Christopher took control right from the start heading off Dhugal McLaren on his Yamaha, Craig Brown on his Kawasaki and more importantly, a brace of KTM’s including the legendary Mark Fuller, ultra fast Reece Burgess, Sam Speedy and the new hot shot Jason Davis.

Christopher so dominated his class that he won every special test on the day and such was his form that he was one of only five riders overall (and the only under 200cc rider) out of over 140 of the countries top Enduro exponents to not lose any time at any of the seven time checks. These five included non other than: Sean Clarke (RM250); Mark Fuller {RMZ450); Dene Humphrey (Honda CRF250X) and Power Racings Karl Power (Honda CR250R).

Christopher had some mighty praise for his Honda CR125. He said that: “the CR performed faultlessly with exceptional performance and reliability aided of course by the Procircuit performance pipe. All the products Christopher used were exceptionally beneficial from the Regina chain and Chiaravalli Sprockets through the Tag bars and grips, the GPR steering damper, Michelin S12 tyres, No Fear clothing, Alpine Star boots and of course for many many years, the Castrol lubricants. Without the fantastic gear and the support team of the Honda Riders Club and Power Racing, I wouldn’t be in the position I am in today – thanks everyone!”
